The inverter converts direct current DC power from batteries or solar modules into alternating current AC power to operate lights,appliances or anything that normally operates on power from the utility grid. The size of the inverter is measured by its maximum continous output in watts. This rating must be larger than the total wattage of all AC loads running at one time. Wattage of AC loads can be determined from a tag or label on the appliance. Utility companies and power grids deliver a sine wave power output waveform. Sine wave models have a higher cost. But they can operate almost anything that operates on utility power. Therefore, we currently offer mostly the Samlex sine wave inverters. Modified sine wave models can power most lighting, televisions and appliances. Unfortunately, this type may destroy some rechargeable tools, flashlights, printers and copiers. Some tools will not operate. So be selective in the operation of this model. We will be offering the modified sine wave inverters at a lower cost in the next few days.
