Solar Modules

MODULES : Multiple PV (photovoltaic) modules combined together to create a array. The number of modules in a system will depend on the size of the individual power module and how much renewable energy your system is required to generate. Average sized modules in a residential system will range from 75 to 185 Watts of rated output and in size will on average be 1.5'x 3.5'. Modules typically hold a 25-year warranty. But always think green energy. By improving your insulation and using compact flourescent bulbs, these modules will become more efficient.

Charge Controller

CHARGE CONTROLLERS : A charge controller regulates the DC(Direct Current) electricity that the photovoltaic panel generates and protects the batteries in the system from overcharging. It also prevents the batteries from discharging at night. The charge controller automatically tapers, stops or diverts the charge when batteries become fully charged. This device makes green energy more efficient.

BATTERIES : Battery based off-grid photovoltaic energy systems store the electricity generated by the array in daylight hours in a battery bank for nighttime usage. The battery bank is the heart of the system and requires the most maintenance of any component in the system; primarily adding distilled water to top of the batteries a few times a year. There is a wide range of batteries that are used in renewable energy systems, ranging from marine batteries to large Industrial batteries. Depending upon care and type of battery, a battery bank life expectancy ranges from 3 to 20 years. Normally, 12 volt batteries are utilized. We recommend purchasing the highest amp output, deep cycle marine batteries. These work very well with any alternative energy system.

Grid

GRID: The grid is the central area where electrical power enters a location and is dispersed. This is more commonly known as a fuse box or circuit breaker box. Solar power may be sent directly to the grid (Grid-Tied) or to another location(Off-Grid) such as batteries. The most efficient green energy system utilizes a grid-tied hookup and a backup battery renewable energy system.

Inverter for Power

INVERTERS : The basic function of an inverter is to convert the DC(Direct Current) electricity generated by the solar modules and stored in the batteries to AC (Alternating Current) to be used in the house. Power conditioning equipment requires very little maintenance. Off-grid inverters convert the DC electricity from the batteries into AC power to be used directly in the house. Grid-Tied inverters convert the DC power directly from the solar panels into the AC power panel. Many types of inverters are available.
